Meet our coaches!!

Beverly Kelly, Director of Debate: Beverly will start her 16th season with the FCHS debate team this fall. She teaches English, Speech, and Debate classes at Fayette County. She has lead the team to eleven region championships! She has coached 38 NFL National Qualifiers, 14 CFL National Qualifiers and 4 TOC Qualifiers over the years. She is an NFL Diamond Coach (and working on her second diamond!). She teaches the speech and debate classes at Fayette County. She has won multiple coaching awards during her tenure including the 1996 Peach Fuzz Award for new coaches and the 2007 Mario Herrera Key for Outstanding Coaches. Beverly was also named the 2009 GFCA Coach of the Year!  This is the highest honor in the State of Georgia for debate coaches!

Jeffrey Miller, Assistant Director of Debate: Jeffrey is entering his fourth season with the FCHS debate team. Jeffrey will focus on coaching the varsity policy team this year. He is the current Treasurer of the Georgia Forensics Coaches Association. He is currently a senior at Kennesaw State University majoring in Mathematics Education. He is also the Director of Operations at the popular websites, Georgia Forensics Daily and bluetub debate. Jeffrey was the winner of a coaching award at the 2008 District Qualifying tournament.

Mike Lacy, Assistant Policy Coach: Mike is a sophomore debater at the University of Georgia. He debated for Chattahoochee HS (GA) prior to UGA. In his freshmen year debating at UGA, Mike reached elimination rounds at Georgia State, Kentucky JV Nationals, Northwestern, Fullerton, Wake JV Nationals, and West Georgia. While in High School, Mike reached elimination rounds at Greenhill, Michigan, St. Marks, Ohio Valley, Montgomery Bell Academy, Glenbrooks, Emory, Lexington, Westminster, Georgia, Carrollton, Harvard and the Tournament of Champions. He was also a member of the 2007 and 2008 GHSA State Champions.  Mike will begin in the fall and help the top varsity team on their pursuit of a bid to the Tournament of Champions.

Richie Choy, Assistant Policy Coach: Richie is a freshman at the Georgia Institute of Technology.  He graduated in 2009 from Chattahoochee High School, where he qualified to the Tournament of Champions twice.  He reached elimination rounds at almost every national tournament.  Richie will be traveling with the Varsity team and helping them at national tournaments.
