The 2008-2009 Debate year has truly been remarkable.  The debate team has enjoyed one of its most successful years by capturing two state titles and multiple tournament championships while being led by a majority of underclassmen.

This season could not have been done without the support of the Director of Debate, Beverly Kelly.  The Georgia Forensics Coaches Association agreed with this statement and named Beverly Kelly the 2009 GFCA Coach of the Year!  Beverly is the first coach from the county to be named this prestigious honor.  She has coached the Fayette Debate team for 15 years, staying commited to the team through the great years and the rebuilding years.  She built one of the largest debate programs in the State and has kept it and made it more successful than ever.
