Senior Debater Eric Bogert debated over the winter break at the GFCA State Championship. Last year, Eric was defeated by Pace Academy in the Championship round. This year, Eric came back and accomplished a huge goal. He defeated Alpharetta High School in the Championship round. This year, Eric is 27-5 in Georgia tournaments (winning every tournament he has attended). He has truly exceeded our expectations. Give Eric a big congratulations when you see him! The Fayette County Debate Team is now the 2009 GFCA Varsity Policy and Lincoln Douglas State Champions!!!!

The Fayette County debate team traveled to Atlanta this past weekend for the GHSA/GFCA State Championships. After a tough weekend of debating, the four juniors – Trusha Daya, Navroz Tharani, Sonika Reddy, and Sonya Jooma were named the GFCA AAAA State Champions!

This is the first time in FCHS history the team has ever received this honor. Trusha was also named the top Affirmative speaker in the AAAA division and Navroz was named the top Negative speaker in the AAAA division.

Congratulations to the juniors!

Although we did not register anyone, Trusha Daya was helping out another school by attending and judging for them.  However, she was put in as a hybrid team with a Wheeler Sophomore.  Her and the Wheeler Sophomore went undefeated and were named Co-Champions of the tournament.  She was also the 2nd Speaker.
