This past weekend the Fayette County debate team competed in their last regular season event in Warner Robins. The team qualified yet another person to NFL National Championship this summer in Las Vegas. Navroz Tharani was named the top speaker in the Student Congress sessions. Eric Bogert was named top presiding officer and would have received qualification to Nationals but already has qualified in another event. Trusha Daya was named 2nd Alternate for NFL Nationals in the Student Congress division.
Fayette County as a school was awarded two different awards. The first was a sweepstakes trophy. This is Fayette’s first ever sweepstakes win at Districts. This means our students did the best out of everyone in the district [every school below I-20] in their events. We also brought home the Trophy Award. The trophy award is given to the team who demonstrates the most success throughout a period of time. We won the award in 2005 and are very proud to win it a short three years later!
Assistant Coach Jeffrey Miller was also awarded this past weekend with a Coaching Award and Appreciation of six years of service in the district.
This was a big weekend for Fayette County Debate.
